Tennis club is going strong

More training for tennis club.

The Ekurhuleni Tennis School of Excellence (ETSOE) are determined to produce good results.

The GCN visited the club during one of their practises, on Sunday, and found vibrant club members warming up at the Germiston Stadium’s tennis courts.

“We usually have practise on Saturday’s, but, due to yesterday’s weather, we postponed it to today, thinking that it would rain, but that didn’t bother or discourage the members at all, which shows their commitment to the sport,” said Loyiso Matsha, head coach at the club.

The youngsters play monthly internal tournaments to improve their skills and also to help to prepare them for competitions.

At these tournaments the boys play against the girls.

“It’s amazing how they just switch to competing mode; they really put out their best performances during these tournaments,” said Matsha.

“We also take part in tournaments outside the club and they produce great results, which goes to show that practise and our monthly tournaments really help.”

Among other players, 10-year-old Jaydan Rooskrantz has shown immense growth and that was rewarded when he was placed first at a tournament played in Sunward Park, recently.

The club is training hard not only to better their skills but also to prepare themselves for upcoming tournaments such as the one that is to be held in Daveyton, in Benoni, from September 5 to 7.

More members are welcome to join the club.
