Police arrested a suspect for rape

Man nabbed for rape.

Primrose Police have arrested a suspect, aged 28, for rape.

This happened after the victim alleged that she went to the Makause informal settlement, to visit her sister’s boyfriend, at around 10pm on May 25.

The victim further alleged that she was followed by two males, one of whom proposed love to her.

When she denied him, the suspect allegedly started assaulting her and pulled her to his shack, where he raped her and stabbed her with an unknown object.

She was rescued the following morning, when the suspects’ brother unlocked the shack, and she managed to escape and report the matter to the police.

The police followed the leads and the suspect was arrested and detained at the Primrose Police Station.

“We are appealing to the community not to make themselves vulnerable by walking in the informal settlement at night, as it is dark,” said the communications officer for the Primrose SAPS, Sgt Styles Maome.

The suspect appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court and the case was postponed for plea and trial.
