Don’t miss the Masakhane Games

Join in the fun at the Masakhane Community Games.

The Germiston Sport Council, in collaboration with Sport Recreation Arts and Culture (SRAC) Ekurhuleni, will host the Ekurhuleni Masakhane Community Games, on June 14, at the Germiston Stadium.

The Masakhane Games are a community-based programme of all types of sporting codes, such as soccer, rugby, volley ball, basketball and netball, to name a few.

Like last year, the games will be held in June, as part of the Youth Celebration through Sport month.

“These games are mainly focused on community building and are aimed at children below 15 years; we also try to create awareness of new sporting codes,” said Germiston Sport Council’s first vice-president, John Diamond.

The event will commence at 7am.

Sporting fanatics are welcome to come and join in the fun and support those competing.

Teams interested in participating in the games can collect entry forms at any of Ekurhuleni’s 18 Customer Care Centres.

Registration closes on May 30.

“We would also like to extend an invitation to all local businesses to come and enjoy the day with our potential future stars,” added Diamond.

“Volunteers are also welcome; we would like to make it bigger and better this year.”
