The upgrade to the facility includes the following exciting changes:

  •  The day ward will be changed into the wellness ward.
  •  The medical ward is set to expand.
  •  A small ward will be built near the rear of the medical ward; this will act as the new day ward.
  •  The surgical ward will have an additional room added.
  •  The ICU wards will be extended in the following ways; adult ICU will increase from a 10-bed unit to a 14-bed unit, the neo-natal ICU (NNICU) will be increased from a six-bed unit to an eight-bed unit, and an addition ICU paediatric ward will be opened. It will have a two bed capacity to start with.
  •  In addition to the extra beds that will be available in the NNICU, the ward will move to a new facility located at the back of the paediatric ward. It will also be linked to the maternity ward, allowing mothers with premature babies quicker and easier access to the NNICU.
  •  The reception will be improved with the replacement of the current tiles and other minor improvements.
  •  The hospital’s roof will receive a full coat of waterproofing, to prevent any leaks.

It is estimated that the renovations will take five month to complete, which means the new wards will be open by the end of August.

“The disruption to our visitors and patients should be minimal, but there may be some noise and dust attributed to the construction,” said Rozan Newfeldt, the manager of Life Roseacres Clinic.

“Our staff is here to assist the community in any way they can during this period of renovations.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused, but feel this project is well worth it.”
