Internship opens doors

Internship programme aims to introduce careers in aviation.

The RAASA, or Recreational Aviation Administration of South Africa, is the body designated by the Director of Civil Aviation to manage, oversee and administer sport and recreational aviation in South Africa, since 2008.

The RAASA has offered an internship programme which aims to introduce young people to various career opportunities in aviation.

Over the last two years, some of its interns have continued their education and careers in aviation as pilots, cabin crew, ground crew at OR Tambo International Airport, as administrators in various aviation companies, with one student becoming an aircraft technician, who now lectures.

The internship programme covers a wide range of subjects, such as administration, civil aviation regulations, technical careers, and many others to provide the learners with a broad foundation of knowledge and understanding on how the aviation industry functions and what careers are available to them.

The RAASA is hosting an open careers day on March 27, to introduce candidates to the various aviation organisations.

During this open day the RAASA will also be accepting applications, in order to recruit interns for the internship programme.

Candidates who are interested in attending the aviation careers open day can contact the internship programme’s facilitator, Bhekisisa Ngomane,on 011 082-1000 or 072 647 8259,or visit www.raasa.co.za.
