Florida Lake Canoe Club held its annual awards ceremony on March 9, at the stunningly beautiful Sterkfontein Heritage Lodge, surrounded by beautiful gardens.
Germiston’s Craig Smith, while working on the West Rand, is a member of the Florida Lake Canoe Club, where he is very proactive, guiding and leading learners, while recognised for his daring exploits on the Jukskei and other rivers.
Smith was nominated for the Skrik vir Niks trophy, as well as the Legend of FLCC, and Best Boat Repairman.
Despite the ongoing drizzle and grey clouds, the event was very cheerful as the competing paddlers teased and chirped the winners of the awards.
Some fun jovial awards were also presented, including Boat Breaker of the Year; the Saw my Gat award, Most Loskop Paddler of the Year, etc.
Numerous other awards were also presented in various categories and age groups.
