Woman nabbed in stolen car, brother tries to bribe cops.

Members of the Germiston SAPS mounted a stop-and-search operation in Black Reef Road, Dinwiddie, on Thursday.

A white Toyota Yaris was stopped and it was discovered that the vehicle had no licence disk on the windscreen.

After further investigation it was found that the engine number had been filed off and the number plates on the vehicle were also false.

The woman driver of the car gave various explanations regarding the the owner of the car.

She was arrested and, on the way to the police station, she gave the officers her brother’s cellphone number.

He told the officers he would meet them at the Germiston Police Station.

At the police station, the man offered the officers money to drop the charges against the 29-year-old woman.

The man was arrested and charged with corruption, while the woman was charged with possession of a possibly stolen motor vehicle.

The pair were arrested by Consts Lindelani Mthemby and Isaac Mtwetwa, and detained at the Germiston Police Station.
