Samson can further his studies

Bursary competition provides Samson access to quality tertiary education.

Germiston resident Samson Matlala (28) was one of three winners awarded a bursary by Regenesys Business School, recently.

Samson entered the business school’s Free to Learn Bursary Competition and was delighted when he won a share of R100 000 worth of education bursaries.

He was presented with his bursary by the business school’s chief executive officer, Siegie Brownlee, and Regenesys Foundation manager Gill Gates.

Samson, an entrepreneur who has successfully registered a small investment company and works as a network marketer, had given up on his dream of achieving a degree in business studies, because his family could not afford the costs of sending him to a tertiary institution.

His one-year bursary towards a degree in business administration will go far towards providing him with the opportunity to develop the skills necessary to take his entrepreneurial activities further.

To enter, candidates were asked to post a photo and motivation to the Regenesys Business School’s Facebook page, describing how free business education could transform their lives.

“Participants from all walks of life posted their inspiring photos and the competition attracted 60 entrants, making the final decision that much harder,” said Brownlee.

“We found, however, that the selected winners stood out as deserving candidates, as their submissions best showcased their dedication to use education to make a meaningful change.”

Although the Free to Learn Competition has ended, Regenesys, together with Microsoft 4Afrika, will be offering an additional 1 000 scholarships to deserving candidates from 11 African countries, namely, Egypt, Morocco, Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Botswana, the Ivory Coast and Rwanda.
