Nabbed for theft and perjury

Man arrested for theft and perjury.

The Primrose SAPS recently arrested a 51-year-old man on charges of theft and perjury.

The arrest was made when he visited the Primrose Police Station and opened a case of armed robbery against an accused.

Detectives began to investigate the man’s claims and it was discovered that there had never been an armed robbery and that the victim was no victim at all.

Rather, he was the man responsible for the theft of R107 559.75.

Detectives were able to trace the full amount and it was given back to the rightful owners.

“This is not the first time that false cases have been opened at the Primrose Police Station,” said Const Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

“We would like to remind the community that opening a false case is a criminal offence and could lead to jail time or a fine.

“It also takes needed resources away from real cases.”

The suspect is due to appear in Germiston Magistrates Court soon.
