The Primrose SAPS recently arrested a 26-year-old man from the Marathon informal settlement.
He was arrested after a man came to the Primrose Police Station to report a case of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
The man told officers that he and the accused had become involved in an argument, during which the accused began to hit the victim with his fists.
He then found a brick and used it to strike the victim, who sustained injuries to his face and legs and was taken to a local hospital.
Officers were able to trace the suspect and he was arrested.
The man appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court, where his case was postponed for trial.
