Man tries to bribe cops

After being arrested, a man thought he could bribe the police to let him go.

A man was nabbed by the Germiston SAPS recently, while they were out doing routine patrols.

On January 16, at 11am, the Germiston police officers noticed a suspicious-looking man in the city.

They searched him and discovered an unlicensed firearm, with six rounds of ammunition, in his possession.

The 40-year-old man could not produce his firearm licence and could not give the police a valid explanation of where he obtained the firearm.

He was taken to the Germiston Police Station and, upon arrival, produced R200 in cash to try to bribe the police officers.

The man was charged with being in possession of an unlicensed firearm, as well as bribery.
