A 30-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday,in the Primrose area,and charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm.
The arrest was made through the joint efforts of the Primrose police and the Germiston Crime Intelligence Unit.
Officers were on a routine patrol when they noticed a suspicious-looking man in a security uniform.
They immediately stopped and searched him.
During their search officers found a firearm and, when they asked for the licence, the man was unable to produce one.
He was arrested and taken to the Primrose Police Station, and will appear in the Germiston Magistrates Court soon.
