Battery thieves nabbed

Two men have been arrested with stolen property.

Two men, aged 34 and 52, were nabbed by the Primrose SAPS for possession of suspected stolen property, on November 8.

The arrests took place after a man reported the theft of car batteries to the police.

He later stopped a sector van and told the officers that he had received information about the whereabouts of the batteries.

He led the police to a scrap yard at the corner of Johan Rissik Street and Main Reef Road.

Upon their arrival, the police found one of the men with one of the batteries and arrested him.

As they were on their way back to the complainant’s premises, the complainant’s informer called and said that the other battery was hidden in a room at the scrap yard.

The police returned to the scene and found the second suspect trying to hide the battery in a room.

He was also arrested.

Both men were detained at the Primrose Police Station.

They are due to appear in court soon.
