Beautiful dancing at top competition

Dancers showcase their skill at top competition.

It was all about the love of dancing recently, when competitors from all over South Africa took part in the Supreme Dancer of the Year competition.

The competition was hosted by Lambton-based Diana Moore Dance World, in the Big Top Arena, at Carnival City.

It was a very exciting event, with dancers competing in all the disciplines, from ballroom and Latin American, to freestyle, slowdance, hustle, rock ‘n roll and formation teams.

With over 700 entries into the championships the dancers had to make sure they performed at their best.

Pupils from Diana Moore Dance World did very well at the competition and Diana Moore, as well as trainers at the studio, are proud of the pupils’ results.

The results are as follows:

  •  Tatijana Ignjatov: First in u-9 freestyle championship section; first in u-9 slowdance championship and first in the u-11 achiever section.
  •  Joana Lima: third in the slowdance championship section in the 19 and over category and fifth in freestyle in the 19 and over section.
  •  Zandri Swanepoel: first in the 10-11 rising star freestyle section.
  •  Andy Haddon: second in the freestyle championship, section 16-18; fifth in the slowdance championship, section 16-18 and second in the champion of champions, section 16 and over.
  •  Nicole Haddon: fourth in the freestyle championship, section 16-18; sixth in the slowdance championship, section 16-18 and fifth in the champion of champions, section 16 and over.
  •  Clarice Vieira: first in both the freestyle and slowdance rising star sections, in the 12-13 age category.
  •  Kyara van der Bank: second in the 12-13 freestyle rising star category.
  •  Vesna Ignjatov: third in the u-9 freestyle and slowdance championship sections and fourth in the u-11 achiever section.
