Show your appreciation

The SAPS will be given recognition at a special community function.

The Germiston Central CPF (all five Germiston sectors) will hold an SAPS Appreciation Day on November 16.

The day aims to show the men and women in blue, who protect the community daily, that the community appreciates everything they do for residents.

“People are fast to air negative views about the service received from the police, and very seldom show appreciation for the good work that is done,” said Jean Ingram, vice-chairman of Dinalview CPF Sector Five.

“Germiston in itself has a wonderful success rate for arrests, as a result of these dedicated members at the station, who strive to make Germiston crime-free.

“One only needs to read the local newspapers to see how these members put their life on the line and sometimes pay the ultimate price to keep us safe and ensure a better future for our children.

“A small token of appreciation will go a long way to show these members how much we care.

“At the end of the day, they are people just like you and me, they have families to go home to and support.”

Ingram added that the Germiston Central CPF wants to uplift the Germiston Police Station and the environment the officers work in daily, as well as improve the cleanliness of the station and the vehicles they use.

“We want to change the image of the Germiston Police Station to ensure a pleasant experience for the members, as well as any member of the community who visits the station.

“The CPF also wants to foster a working relationship between the business community and members of the community at large with the members of the SAPS, to form a unit, to show that Germiston is an anti-crime environment with zero crime tolerance.

“This task is not attainable our own and we request the community and businesses to assist us.”

The SAPS Appreciation Day will run from 9am to 4pm at the Germiston City Sports Club, in Vimy Ridge Road, Delville.

There will be various stalls available, as well as jumping castles and other fun activities for the whole family.
