Principal of Hoërskool Elspark bows out

"I will always cherish the good memories and friendships that carried me through the difficult times."

Hoërskool Elspark recently bid an emotional farewell to principal Jan van Niekerk as he stepped into retirement after nine years of dedicated service.

On his final day, students formed a tunnel to honour him, paying their respects as he walked out for the last time.

In a heartfelt statement, Van Niekerk reflected on his tenure, saying, “Although I remember most of my nine years as principal as good and successful times, I also had my challenges and hard times.

“It feels like half a lifetime of events that leave me with wonderful memories and much appreciation for the support I received from all stakeholders, including our parents.

“I will always cherish the good memories and friendships that carried me through the difficult times.”

Van Niekerk expressed gratitude for the unwavering support he received from the School Governing Body (SGB), the school management team, and the educators who went the extra mile to provide excellent educational opportunities to learners and parents in the community.
