Local athlete prepares for the new season of CGA

Since joining the team, Vivian has demonstrated quality and progress, according to his coach Thulani Sibeko.

Vivian Wepener began the year with the goal of competing in the CGA track and field season.

The athlete has been preparing for the Central Gauteng Athletics (CGA) track and field competitions which started on January 20.

Since joining the team, Vivian has demonstrated quality and progress, according to his coach Thulani Sibeko.

He made it through to the SA Championships the previous year, where he participated in the long and high jump events, taking home a bronze in the U13 high jump division.

“We are trying to maintain his performance this year and take home every trophy,” said Sibeko.

“He’s going to compete in the U16 high and long jumps, as well as the 100 and 200m. Our goal is to make it to both the South African Schools Championships and the ASA Championships in every competition.

“Our training takes place on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday,” said Sibeko.
