Most road users are unaware of what to do when they come across an accident or are involved in one, according to the EMPD.
Here are some steps to follow:
• Stop your car safely, remain calm and switch on your hazards to warn other drivers.
• Help anyone who might be hurt.
• Get all the necessary information about the vehicle and the passengers.
• Call the emergency services.
• Do not tamper with the evidence.
To report an accident, call the toll-free number 112 or the non-toll-free number 011 459 0911 and provide clear information.
