Ekurhuleni detectives secure the sentencing of 34 offenders

“Other suspects were fined while others were sentenced to one year direct imprisonment."

Ekurhuleni District Commissioner Major General Anna Sithole has commended Ekurhuleni District detectives for their efforts in securing convictions.

From October 30 to November 5, 34 suspects were sentenced for various crimes committed.

Among the suspects is Motsikelane Masita in Elsburg, sentenced to two years imprisonment for assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

“Zenzele Buthelezi in Kempton Park was sentenced to four years direct imprisonment for having presumably stolen property and another four years imprisonment for tampering with essential infrastructure.

“Detective Sergeant Modika in Kempton Park investigated both cases,” said district communications officer Captain Nelda Sekgobela.

“Ndlovu Thando Mazwi from Primrose was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment for murder. Detective Sergeant Munyai of Primrose SAPS investigated this case.

“Other suspects were fined while others were sentenced to one year direct imprisonment.

“Sithole encouraged the police members to carry on the good work and also encouraged community members to stop withdrawing serious cases,” said Sekgobela.
