Lambton woman nominated for make-up competition

The competition requires people to vote at a cost of R3 and through social media by liking the post of their favourite make-up artist.

Pearl Mndebele, a make-up artist from Lambton, was nominated to be part of the Clash of South African Makeup Artists (COSAMUA) competition.

The competition was founded by Audrey Mofokeng, a renowned make-up artist.

Mndebele shared this excitement with the hopes of inspiring a generation of make-up artists.

She is a qualified make-up artist who started her journey during Covid-19.

“I was working in the corporate space as an administrator.

“I have a diploma in business management from the University of Johannesburg. When Covid hit us, I was left without a job. I looked at my talents and being a make-up artist was the goal,” said Mndebele.

“I went to enhance my skills by studying at Kenosis Beauty Institute in Midrand and went on to do my internship at Vault Cosmetics in Harare, Zimbabwe.

“The competition requires people to vote at a cost of R3 and through social media by liking the post of their favourite make-up artist.

“Every Thursday there is an elimination. My dream is to win this competition and use my earnings to build my studio. The ultimate dream is to inspire people to look to the beauty industry for opportunities.”

Through her business ventures, she managed to work for the Grammy award-winning artist Wouter Kellerman.

“It was an honour to work with such a legend. Through hard work, I am able to reach places I did not believe I would.”
