Jacaranda Academy came out tops at the Model UN Debate Competition held on February 22 at Rhodesfield Engineering School of Specialisation- Aviation.

Under the theme ‘The digitisation of the department of education/digital divide amongst the provinces’, each team was required to have three speakers per school.
Jacaranda Academy’s debate team consisted of learners in grades five, six and seven.
They were Katlego Moshoeshoe, Lulonwabo Qamata, Bafokeng Seema, Mridul Narain, Bokang Monwa and Lincoln Tshuma.
They were led by the head of school Tamara Balla and Grade Five teacher Lucia Ndlovu.

“One of our ethos is a holistic approach to education, so we aim to expose our learners to different educational environments as well as situations. Learning to debate reaps life-long benefits for our learners.
“They develop excellent oral and written communication skills, critical thinking, effective tools for research, organisation and presentation,” said the school.
