LSEN Ithembelihle School gets 180 toys

LSEN Ithembelihle School receives180 Mumpy comfort toys.

With help from the community, Tweak Fashion NPC donated 180 Mumpy comfort toys to LSEN Ithembelihle School.

The public benefit organisation donated the goods at the end of last year after Tweak had appealed to the Bedfordview and Edenvale News for the community’s support.

The members of the Edenvale Ladies Circle and the founder of Tweak Fashion NPC with the donations of clothing, dresses, suits, curtains and bedding.

Tweak founder Justine Engelbrecht said the Mumpy is made from recycled material and filled with virgin ball fibre.

They also donated party packs and toiletries received from stakeholders in the community.

“The children sang and clapped with our Tweak Fashion NPC ladies. It was heart-warming and a great opportunity to give back.

“We love giving a child a Mumpy to love.”

To date, Tweak has given over 400 children a Mumpy.

Besides getting much support for their donation drive, Yvette Cornelissen of the Edenvale Ladies Circle visited Tweak.

Engelbrecht said the Ladies Circle delivered a bakkie load of old and new clothing, dresses, suits, curtains and bedding.

“Much of the donation will bless those less privileged and be used to make Mumpys and bunnies for children,” said Engelbrecht.

The organisation needs sponsors for Easter and Mandela Day and is working on a bunny drive.

For R130, the sponsor and the child receive a sewn bunny. It also empowers the women who work in partnership with Tweak.

Tweak also needs a sponsor to donate Mumpys to the children at Pebbles School in Primrose.
