Bedforview Police address abuse against men

Abused men are urged to use help facilities.

Bedfordview police continue to raise awareness of gender-based violence (GBV) in the community.

Their latest efforts saw them engaging the public at Eastgate Mall on December 9 as part of their 16 Days Of Activism against Gender-Based Violence.

The social crime coordinator, sector managers, DV coordinator, flash office and the Bertha Gxowa Hospital team joined them on this campaign.

Safety tips were given to the community by distributing pamphlets.

Bedfordview police spokesperson Sergeant Lillian Modiga said people were pleased to see the officers out and about.

“The community was pleased to see the police officers going out of their way in assisting the community.

“Men were encouraged to report abuse as well.

“They were also advised to go to the Victim Empowerment Centre at the police station as it assists all vulnerable people,” explained Modiga.
