Primrose police get best crime prevention unit award

The Primrose SAPS Crime Prevention Task Unit was the recipient of the best crime prevention of the year award.

Members of Ekurhuleni District police stations gathered in Katlehong North recently for the Ekurhuleni District Excellence Awards.

The Primrose SAPS received a certificate of appreciation in terms of the SAPS performance monitoring tool (performance index) for the 2021/2022 year and a trophy for crime prevention efficiency of the year.

Primrose cooperate communications officer Sergeant Styles Maome said Primrose obtained 68,48% and rated with three stars to receive the award.

Primrose detective Sergeant Hendrick Mudau from Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offence (FCS) Unit, received the runner-up certificate for employee of the year 2021/2022.

His recognition follows his investigations into rape cases in Alberton, Ronderlbult and Braamfontein.

“This award is a career boost and a motivation to other younger police officers,” said Mudau, adding that he gets motivated to wake up and put on his uniform.

“Being a police officer is like a calling; called to serve the people,” said Mudau.

Other stations in the top spots in Ekurhuleni were:

• Admin support employee of the year level 8 to 12: Edenvale.

• Vispol employee of the year: Elsburg

• FCS employee of the year level 5 to 7: Germiston

• Admin support group of the year: Germiston

• Vispol group of the year: Germiston SAPS

• Detective group of the year: Germiston second and Edenvale third.

• Efficiency winners 2021/ 2022, crime prevention component of the year: Primrose
