Local church hosts fundraising event

According to Father Phuti Makgabo, the event aimed to raise funds to cover the church's operational costs.

The Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Primrose hosted a Heritage Day Picnic on September 24 to raise funds for the church.

Members played soccer, and volleyball and they also had jumping castles and children’s activities.

The event started with a morning service and the fundraising began shortly after that.

Thembie Magwegwe, Axel Mobingo, Sam Chiume, Brigitte Mutombo, Grace Khumalo, Jowline Mobingo and Ruth Jiri set up the Taste of Africa table serving different African dishes.

According to Father Phuti Makgabo, the event aimed to raise funds to cover the church’s operational costs.

Members of the church and the community in attendance set up different stalls and enjoyed tasting various Italian, Portuguese and African dishes.
