Elsburg SAPS host community imbizo in Buhlepark

Phooko said the police and CPF forum of sector 3 will intensify patrols in the area.

On May 17, Elsburg SAPS had a community imbizo at the Buhlepark Taxi Rank.

The meeting was attended by the community and Ward 40 Clr Nqabayethu Tshabalala was also present.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss community concerns on service delivery between the police and municipality that needed to be addressed.

“The community said they need the police and municipality to hold hands in the fight against crime. They had experienced rape cases around Buhlepark where the grass is long and the suspects hiding there to attack young and old women who pass by from the R554 into Buhlepark,” said Elsburg communications officer, Constable Daphney Phooko.

She said the police had intervened in the matter and information was gathered.

Also, the police are continuing to monitor and patrol the area with the purpose to apprehend the culprits who terrorise the learners and women who are coming from work.

The community requests the municipality to render services for them to be able to view the road, as this will prevent the criminals to commit crimes in the long grass. Furthermore, the community requested police visibility in the area and continuous patrol.

Phooko said the police and CPF forum of sector 3 will intensify patrols in the area.

SAPS also encouraged community leaders to continue giving information that will lead to better safety and improvement in securing the residents at all times.

“The sector manager emphasised crime happening in the area and advised the community to keep providing information to their leaders and the police. Their involvement will make us win and we will all stay in a safe and secure area if the community holds hands. We all have a role to play in the fight against crime. Police without community won’t win,” said Phooko.
