Primrose police representatives tackle crime with awareness initiatives

Residents sensetised about crime in Primrose

Primrose authorities hit the streets of Solheim to create awareness about house burglaries and theft of motor vehicles.

Members of Primrose Police Station, Ekupholeni NGO, gender-based violence brigades and members of Primrose Crime Prevention Youth Desk visited Solheim suburb, in sector 2 in Primrose.

The objective of the visit was to sensitise the community about these crimes troubling the sector.

Sergeant Styles Maome, Primrose SAPS corporate communications officer, said the awareness activities included door-to-door visits and the distribution of 300 safety tips pamphlets.

“Primrose SAPS station commander Colonel Eunice Nzuza addressed the parade and commended the stakeholders and members for their commitment in reducing crime in Primrose,” said Maome.

The same police authorities and members of the Gauteng Department of Education also visited Laerskool Die President recently.

The main purpose for the visits was to discourage learners from bringing illegal substances to school and to promote a safer learning environment.

Maome said learners were addressed by various speakers from different stakeholders regarding crime.

“Sibongile Mamba, a social worker from the Department of Education, informed the learners to report any challenges they may face to the teachers. Her sentiments were echoed by Lwazi Zungu of Primrose Youth Desk who spoke about drugs and bullying,” said Maome.
