In the spirit of spreading the love on Valentine’s Day, 300 large hot dogs were donated by Steven Strange from Sausage Saloon and Mark Leisher from Miami Gold donated cold drinks, biscuits and maize meal.

Caretaker Mandy Snoyman said the beneficiaries were delighted by the donations.

“We had about 40 hot dogs extra and those were given to the junior soccer players of the Burning Stars Football Club, which are our local soccer players from the informal settlement.”

She said the number of people visiting the soup kitchen is increasing at a rapid rate.

Sausage Saloon and Miami Gold donated food to Itemba Soup Kitchen on Monday to celebrate Valentine’s Day.

“On average Itemba feeds between 220 to 250 people, every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. This has shown us that the Itemba Feeding Scheme needs and relies on donations and sponsorships from our community and local businesses.”

“Itemba Feeding Scheme needs your help to continue feeding our community and people who are hungry and destitute,” said Snoyman.
