CoE response to poor maintenance of CoE old Age facility

The City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) has been accused of failing to maintain a historic building that has been turned into elderly accommodation in Driehoek.

The elderly residing in the building at 33 Rose Innes Road has raised several concerns.

Pamela Mileham accused CoE of poor management regarding maintenance of infrastructure.

CoE spokesperson Zweli Dlamini said the human settlements department is responsible for day-to-day maintenance and real estate department for garden upkeep.

“Applications for residence are made at City House Building, Kempton Park, and applicants must be South African citizens, 60 years and older, Sassa recipients and three months’ bank statements must be provided.

The building does not have security guards, but electrical fencing and CCTV cameras are in place.”
