Police appeal to the community

Residents warned to shop careful at shopping retailers

Primrose police appealed to the community and those who are visiting the area to be cautious while shopping and seeking employment.

Primrose SAPS corporate communications officer Sgt Styles Maome said shoppers must be careful of a group of criminals operating around retail stores and prey on vulnerable victims.

“We received numerous complaints from shoppers who were robbed after being promised a temporary job.

“One victim alleged that he was on Rietfontein Road when he was approached by a man who promised him a job to offload a truck for R150 at one of the retail stores. They used the back entrance of the store and the suspect wanted his bank card and pin number to register him inside the shop.

“The victim became suspicious and the suspect threatened him and took two of his cell phones before he vanished.

“We are still encouraging the community to report any crime or incidents of crime to the Primrose police at 011 842 0500 or using these Sector numbers 071 675 6864/5/6/7/8/9,” said Maome.
