Lerato gives to the less fortunate

Give does not require millions.

Albermarle resident and Mrs Universe Africa semi-finalist Lerato Makabate said you don’t need to be rich to help others.

“Giving does not require millions. It requires you to know when you have enough and willing to share with those who have little or nothing,” said Lerato.

The founder of Makabate House, a family NPO, said a stormy event in her hometown during a holiday visit inspired her and her family to start the NGO.

“The storm destroyed homes and people were left destitute. While everyone was trying to rebuild and collect whatever was left after the storm, some families lost everything and they did not even know where to begin to rebuild,” said Lerato.

She said that moment Makabate House was born.

“I had the means to reach out to more people and request help. I wanted to help those who can’t help themselves,” said Lerato.

Lerato is a logistics graduate working on her BCom in supply chain and operations degree.

She is calling on residents to assist her in her food drive collection.

“Covid-19 affected many homes. Jobs have been lots, which means hunger and poverty. We are pleading to those who can help to donate to our food drive collection,” said Lerato.

Those who are interested in donating can contact Lerato on 060 705 3400.
