Last night’s strong winds and heavy rains have caused damage in parts of Germiston.

Some areas were left without electricity as trees fell and damaged the power lines.

Readers informed GCN cables snapped because of the strong winds on Botha Street in Elsburg.

In Witfield a tree fell onto a powerline.

A tree was struck by lighting and fell on Galway Street, Germiston.

Other areas that were affected were Dinwiddie, Germiston Ext9 and Florida Hills.
