Woman gives birth outside Wannenburg Clinic’s gate

“Security did not allow the woman to go inside the clinic.”

A Makause woman gave birth to a baby boy this morning outside the Wannenburg Clinic’s gate in Primrose.

According to community member Agree Mathebula, he saw women gathering outside the clinic, and they were clearly in distress.

“One woman was lying on the ground. They were helping the woman as she was giving birth on the pavement.
“Security did not allow the woman to go inside the clinic.”

Community members are angry as the woman had to give birth outside the gate.

Both the baby and the woman were later allowed to enter the clinic to wait for an ambulance to fetch them.

The GCN awaits comment from City of Ekurhuleni.

GCN spoke to a clinic representative at the scene who advised the community to request that the clinic operate on a 24-hour basis.
