Help CPF raise funds to fight crime

The Primrose Sector One CPF shares some of their fund-raising initiatives which they hope to continue when lockdown permits.

The Primrose Sector One CPF aims to serve the community of Primrose Sector One which includes Marlands, Woodmere, Primrose East and South, as well as Makause, Marathon and Delport informal settlement.

“The CPF is made up of residents who volunteer their time and efforts to address the problem of crime in our area,” said Danica Adams, the CPF’s deputy secretary.

“Resources to continue the fight against crime in the area come out of the volunteers’ own pockets.”

To help ease this burden the CPF has launched a number of fund-raising initiatives.

“The initiatives aim to try and gain donations and funding which is required for reflective jackets, petrol, flashlights, batteries, bulletproof vests, as well as for our much-needed License Plate Recognition (LPR) Camera System Project,” said Danica.

One such project was the CPF’s first car boot sale, which was held on the corner of Oak Avenue and Acacia Road, prior to the start of lockdown.

“The event boasted a huge variety of goods for sale, including food, plants, clothes, creative items, as well as pre-loved household items,” said Danica.

“A special thank you goes to Clint’s Garden Services who donated their services and assisted us by cleaning up the area where the boot sale was held.”

The Primrose CPF Sector One committee was thrilled with the support received for the event from the community and look forward to the next event.

“The intention is to have a car boot sale on the first Saturday of each month,” explained Danica.

“We will hold the next one as soon as lockdown allows and will communicate the date with residents.”

CPF chairperson Bradley Adams encouraged the community to support the CPF’s and other community-driven initiatives.

“You can also become more actively involved in the community and the fight against crime by becoming a member of the local WhatsApp groups or by joining your local CPF as a patroller, controller or trauma support member,” said Bradley.

Though the CPF appreciates that everyone is experiencing the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown they appeal to residents, as well as businesses in the area, to please assist with donations and sponsorship to help fight crime in the sector.
