Katlehong SAPS continues to curb crime in their precinct

The Katlehong police shared their weekend arrest statistics.

It was another busy lockdown weekend for the Katlehong police.

Officers from the Katlehong police’s Crime Prevention Unit, detectives from the Katlehong Police Station, members of the EMPD and members of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) took to the streets of Katlehong in several weekend operations.

The operations were held throughout the precinct between May 8 and 10.

The operations led to the arrest of 25 suspects.

This is according to the latest arrest statistics released by the Katlehong Police Station.

Fifteen of the suspects, aged between 19 and 35 years old, were arrested for contravening the Disaster Management Act (Covid-19 Act).

Other suspects were charged with various offences.

Charges included common assault, domestic violence, assault of a police official, common robbery, malicious damage to property, possession of suspected stolen property, shoplifting, dealing in drugs and driving under the influence of alcohol.

All of the arrested suspects were held at the Katlehong Police Station pending their appearance in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court.

Katlehong SAPS acting station commander Col Phakama Gcaza thanked everyone who contributed to the arrests.
