Stop-and-search yields results

Katlehong police share their arrest statistics.

Officers from the Katlehong police’s Crime Prevention Unit took to the streets of Katlehong, on Thursday, in a crime prevention stop-and-search operation.

During the operation, which formed part of the station’s continued efforts to curb crime in the area, 11 suspects were arrested.

The suspects were arrested for various offences.

Charges included:

• Contravening the Disaster Management Act (Covid-19 Act): 4

• Assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm: 2

• Common assault: 2

• Rape: 1

• Intimidation: 1

• Shoplifting: 1.

Katlehong SAPS acting station commander Col Phakama Gcaza thanked everyone who contributed to the arrests.

All of the arrested suspects appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court where their cases were postponed for various reasons.
