Several suspects arrested in Katlehong over long weekend

The Katlehong police shared their weekend arrest statistics.

It was another busy lockdown long weekend for the Katlehong police.

Officers from the Katlehong police’s Crime Prevention Unit, detectives from the Katlehong Police Station, members of the EMPD and members of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) took to the streets of Katlehong in several weekend operations.

The operations were held throughout the precinct between April 24 and 27, the fifth weekend of lockdown, and led to the arrest of 39 suspects.

This is according to the latest arrest statistics released by the Katlehong Police Station.

Twenty-six suspects were arrested for contravening the Disaster Management Act (Covid-19 Act).

Other suspects were charged with various offences.

All of the arrested suspects were held at the Katlehong Police Station pending their appearance in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court.

Katlehong SAPS acting station commander Col Phakama Gcaza thanked everyone who contributed to the arrests.

The team will continue to hold operations within the area.
