“She told officers she had visited the suspect’s shack to get money for food,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

“When she arrived, she reportedly found her boyfriend making love to another woman, and she questioned him.

“Without a word to her the suspect got dressed and then allegedly attacked her.

“She claimed he punched, kicked and tried to stab her, however, his brother intervened and she was able to escape.”

Using the description given by the victim, officers were able to trace and arrest the suspect.

He has since appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court, where his case was postponed for plea and trial.

“We once again appeal to our residents to seek help when they experience trouble in their relationships,” said Maome.

“No one should ever resort to violence.”
