Primrose detective celebrates conviction

Primrose police’s Det Const Hendrick Mudau was commended for his hard work that led to the arrest and conviction of Bongani Makhanya (25).

Primrose police’s Det Const Hendrick Mudau headed the 2017 investigation against Bongani Makhanya (25).

Makhanya was arrested on a charge of possession of an unlicensed firearm, live ammunition and attempted murder.

He was found guilty on all three charges in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court.

During his recent sentencing, Makhanya was sentenced to five years direct imprisonment for possession of an unlicensed firearm, three years direct imprisonment for possession of live ammunition and 12 years direct imprisonment for attempted murder.

The sentences are to be served concurrently.

Makhanya was also declared unfit to possess a firearm.

Primrose SAPS station commander Col Albertina Vesi thanked Mudau for his hard work and dedication that helped secure the conviction.
