ALERT: Loadshedding likely to continue into the weekend

Loadshedding is conducted rotationally as a measure of last resort to protect the power system.

Eskom has announced that loadshedding will continue into the weekend.

A shortage of capacity and a higher demand for electricity has been blamed for the extension in loadshedding.

Eskom said in a statement that there will be an increased possibility of loadshedding over the next 18 months as the company carries out critical maintenance to restore their aging power plants to good health.

Stage two calls for 2000MW to be rotationally loadshed nationally at a given period.

Loadshedding is conducted rotationally as a measure of last resort to protect the power system.

The power utility appeals to residents and businesses to use electricity sparingly during this period.

Please switch off geysers, as well as all non-essential lighting and electrical appliances to assist in reducing demand.

Customers are reminded to treat all electrical points as live during loadshedding.
