Five nabbed with copper cables

Germiston police apprehended five men on a charge of possession of suspected stolen property.

While on a routine patrol in Refinery Road recently, officers from the Germiston Police Station noticed a suspicious-looking white Opel Corsa bakkie.

“They stopped the vehicle and searched it and its five occupants,” said Const Maxwell Mabunda, communications officer for the Germiston SAPS.

“During the search the officers found copper cables.

“They suspected the cables had been stolen from the railway.”

The men were arrested on a charge of possession of suspected stolen property.

The suspects were detained at the Germiston Police Station pending their appearance in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court.

Germiston police seized wire cutters and allegedly stolen copper cables during the arrest of five suspects recently.
