Runner breaks world record for most squats in three minutes

Tshepiso Malapane is also known by his nickname “Crazy T”.

Tshepiso ‘Crazy T’ Malapane broke the Guinness World Record for most squats in three minutes at the recent 2020 Dis-Chem Half-Marathon.

Malapane, a runner himself, was exceptionally grateful to have Bedfordview Athletics host his world record attempt at one of the best attended marathons in Gauteng.

His record was for the most squats done by a male in three minutes, and was his first-ever attempt.

Tshepiso “Crazy T” Malapane.

He did 232 squats in three minutes, breaking the record of 200.

“I wanted to break this record because I believe my legs are my strongest asset, therefore, doing squats was the natural choice,” said Malapane.

Malapane said before attempting to break the record, he trained four to five hours a day.

“I had to focus more on strength training for legs, such as deadlifts, lunges, squats and thrusters,” said Malapane.
