Little ones sparkle in year-end concert

Children from Smiley Kids Elspark wow on stage.

Smiley Kids Elspark, in Kingfisher Avenue, Elspark, put on a spectacular concert for their gala evening on Wednesday. Owner and principal Estelle Aucamp opened the school on November 3, 1997.

The pre-school started off with just one child, and by June 1998 it had over 100 toddlers.

Twenty-two years later, Smiley Kids Elspark has continued with their tradition of preparing toddlers and Grade R’s for the big school world, and part of that preparation is fun, dressing up and putting on a show at the end of the year.

The teachers and children worked extremely hard to put together a year-end concert that embraced culture, diversity and style.

East, West, Home’s Best was about Mama Quincy (Keitumetse Motsoane) saying goodbye to her three daughters, Pinkie (Nelisiwe Mphulo), Gladys (Paballo Stevens) and Prudence (Gugulethu Tjiane) who decided to go and explore life in Jozi city.

However, after a stressful university life, large debts and living life in the fast lane, the three sisters realise they miss their mom and her cooking, and decide to go home.

Mama Quincy welcomed her daughters home and threw a big party celebrating their safe return and the fact that they had learnt important life lessons.

The play left the audience with the feel of good advice, life lessons and the importance of living a well-balanced life.

Teachers and parents added a little magic to the event by decorating each table in a different theme, and included some yummy snacks to have while watching the show.

The evening ended with dinner and dessert.

The children enjoyed the evening immensely with loads of smiles, enthusiasm, sparkling outfits and dancing.
