EMPD officers tackle drugs in Germiston and Vosloorus

Two arrested following EMPD drug operation.

EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit members conducted a special operation in Germiston last Friday between 3pm and 6pm.

The operation then continued last Saturday in Vosloorus between 9am and 1pm.

The officers made two arrests and confiscated dagga, nyaope and rock.

“A 34-year-old male suspect found loitering in Meyer Street, between Knox and Odendaal streets, in the Germiston CBD just after 3pm, was stopped and searched by officers,” said Kobeli Mokheseng, media liaison officer for the EMPD.

“They discovered 27 knotted plastic bags of dagga on the suspect valued at R1 350 and R278 in cash.

“He was arrested and taken to the Germiston Police Station.”

The following day at noon in Vosloorus the patrolling officers approached and frisked a very nervous 25-year-old male near the taxi rank.

They discovered eight brown knotted plastic bags of nyaope and 19 silver, green and pink wrappers containing a drug known as rock valued at R2 500.

The youngster was handcuffed and taken to the Vosloorus Police Station.

Both arrestees were charged with possession of and dealing in narcotics.

The suspects are expected to appear in the Germiston and Vosloorus magistrate’s courts soon.
