This was the second major tournament that Delville Germiston Bowling Club was selected to host, after hosting the National Disability Bowls Tournament in June.

“This is only the second time full district colours have been assigned to the event; last year being the first,” said Ron Burns on behalf of Bowls SA.

“Previously it was a development tournament.

“Teams from Eden Bowls, North West Bowls, Northern Free State, Northern Cape Bowls, Boland Bowls, Port Natal Bowls, Limpopo Bowls, Eastern Province Bowls, Johannesburg Bowls, KwaZulu-Natal Bowls, Sables Bowls, Southern Free State, Ekurhuleni Bowls, King Fisher Bowls, Natal Inland Bowls and Sedibeng Bowls were represented at the event. Each team was made up of four players, men and women, and there were 128 players in total.”

The first semi-final saw Port Natal ‘A’ made up of Paul White, Wayne Roberts, Jattyd Ramsden and Gareth Bashford and Gauteng North ‘A’ made up of Mike O’Conner, Brendan Ferns, Christiaan du Plooy and Reinie Lucas battling it out.
