Talent shines at Rest-a-While fund-raiser

Rest-a-While held a fun-filled fund-raiser.

The spotlight was brightly focused on talent last Saturday as Rest-a-While Service Centre for the Elderly held a special fund-raising Show Us Ur Talent event.

The centre was packed with expectant people just waiting to see what the performers had in store for them, and they were not disappointed.

To cheering and applause, Esme and Nadiem Allie took to the floor to perform an excellent cha cha to open the proceedings.

The couple swirled around the dance floor to the delight of the crowd.

They were followed by various items, from poems and songs to musical performances and dancing.

Sharon Holliday had the crowd giggling with her poem Little Red Riding Hood and Althea Fairley and Janetta Scholtz wowed on the piano and accordion, respectively.

Theresa de Villiers sang Annie’s Song to the enjoyment of the audience and dance group Sewe Silwer Sterre from Kruis Kinders Aftercare wowed with their energetic dance routine.

The event was sponsored by CT Hydraulics, as well as Andrea and Michael Taljaard from Samaritans Christian Broadcasting Network (they sponsored the eats on sale).

At the end of the competition, the winners were presented with trophies and gifts by representatives from CT Hydraulics.

“The winner of the talent competition was also given the opportunity to participate in a fund-raising cancer charity event hosted by non-profit organisation HALO (Healthy Active Lifestyle Organisation),” said Kathy Krouwkamp, from CT Hydraulics.

The event is set to take place in November.

“Special thanks goes to Theresa de Villiers for arranging the event,” said Trudie.

After a fun-filled afternoon and much deliberation from the judges, the winners were announced.
