Germiston CBD shops closed as threats of violence, looting circulate

Businesses in the Germiston CBD have closed their doors as threats of looting and violence abound.

Threats of violence and looting are rife in the Germiston CBD this morning (Monday).

This was confirmed by Const Maxwell Mabunda, the communications officer for the Germiston police.

“We have received reports that a group of people are moving through the Germiston CBD threatening to loot local businesses,” he said.

When the GCN visited the area all the shops lining President and Meyer streets were closed, their security gates and roller doors shut.

No confirmed reports of looting have been reported at this stage.
