Residents of Cora Erasmus in Roos Street, Primrose, and their neighbours have been fighting to have the boundary wall between the properties replaced since mid-February.
“The excuse we were always given when we asked when the wall would be fixed was there was no money for repairs,” said Glen Mynheer, who lives behind the home.
“The wall was recently replaced, but the workmanship is poor and the wall is a lot shorter than it was.”
Mynheer and his family felt they were unable to enjoy their backyard because of a complete lack of privacy.

“I wanted to fix the wall through my insurance, but was told I couldn’t as it was the metro’s responsibility,” Mynheer said.
“My next door neighbour, however, was forced to make a make-shift wall because of his dogs.
“I am lucky enough that my dogs are friendly, but not having the wall was a huge security risk.”
Elsie du Plessis, a resident at Cora Erasmus, agreed, “Our issues are just ignored by the metro.”
The GCN sent queries to the metro, but no comment was received at the time of going to print.
