Officers from the Katlehong SAPS Crime Prevention Unit, detectives from the Katlehong Police Station and members of the EMPD took to the streets of Katlehong last weekend in several different operations.
The operations, held between June 21 and 23, led to the arrest of 17 suspects.
The accused were charged with various offences.

Charges included:
• murder: 6
• driving under the influence of alcohol: 6
• malicious damage to property: 3
• common assault: 2

All of the arrested suspects appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court, where their cases were postponed for a number of different reasons.
Katlehong SAPS acting station commander Brig Sammy Thambo was pleased with the arrests made and called for the community to report crimes and criminal activities in the area, even if it is anonymously, to help in the fight against crime.
