Germiston City disappointed with recent Super League results
Germiston City kicks off the second round of the Eastern Local Football Association (ELFA) Super League with a draw.
Following mixed results in their recent Eastern Local Football Association (ELFA) Super League clashes, Germiston City Football Club were looking to start the second round of the league with a home win against Alberton Football Club.
The game kicked off at 3.30pm last Saturday at Germiston City Sports Grounds, and within the first 10 minutes it was clear that both teams were hunting for a strong win.
Jack Takudzwa made a break down the right side of the pitch and beat the Alberton defence, heading for the goal, only to be brought down in the area.
The referee had no hesitation in awarding the penalty.

Captain of Germiston Dembi Mayimela made no mistake with the kick, placing Germiston in the lead with one point on the scoreboard.
Germiston’s lead was short lived though as Alberton levelled up the score right after kick-off.
Takudzwa made another excellent attempt at a goal 25 minutes into the game, but his shot let him down and was easily collected by the Alberton goalkeeper.
The score remained 1-1 at half-time.
Four minutes into the second half a bad back pass by Germiston defender Dikledi Kgare forced Mayimela to make a tackle inside the area, which the referee deemed a foul and subsequently awarded Alberton a penalty.
A spectacular shot on target put Alberton in the lead.
Germiston went on the hunt for an equaliser and their strong counter-attack two minutes later saw Kenneth Paille latch onto a loose ball to score the equaliser, making the score 2-2.
A weary Kgare was substituted and replaced in the left back position by Chad Nel.
Alberton turned up the pressure and after two impressive saves by Germiston’s goalkeeper, Comfort Molebela, the defence failed to clear the ball and allowed Alberton to take the lead yet again.
With the score at Germiston 2 and Alberton 3, the home team was once again sent hunting for an equaliser.

Ketlamorelemang Mokoatedi pressurised Alberton with his speed and headed straight for the goal; however, his shot hit the side netting and a header by the Alberton keeper gave Germiston a corner.
With eight minutes remaining, Mokoatedi made up for his earlier misses by heading home with the equaliser.
Ending the game with a final score of 3-3.
“We are disappointed that things did not go our way,” said Peter Oliver, chairperson of Germiston City FC.
“The boys could have really cracked down on their opponents and had their elusive win, but it was not to be.”
Germiston’s reserve team, which is being built as a development side made up mainly of u-17s, lost 3-1, but showed some vast improvement over earlier games.
